3rd Grade 1/29/21

Scholars, excellent job reciting Casey at the Bat! This coming week we will hit the ground running with grammar and wrap up our study of Pinocchio. 

This week in Math we will continue working with fractions. Scholars will explore and discuss fractions of a whole, comparing and ordering fractions, and equivalent fractions. Please make sure your scholar is doing their homework nightly so they can practice the new skills they are learning in the classroom.

This week scholars will begin the unit on Astronomy. We will begin by exploring patterns in the natural world and objects in the sky. 

In history, we will begin our unit on The Earliest Americans.

3rd Grade 1/22/21

 Pinocchio has made some interesting choices in our reading thus far! We will continue discussing the virtues of honesty, integrity, and wisdom in class. Thank you for preparing for Casey at the Bat Recitations with your scholar. 

In Math this week we will review fractions learned in 2nd grade. We will discuss halves and quarters. We will practice writing fractions, comparing, and ordering fractions. We will explore how to add fractions to make a whole. At home, you can support your scholar by incorporating fractions while cooking and/or baking. Give your scholar the opportunity to use the vocabulary associated with fractions and how to create fractions. 

This week, we will continue to learn about Vikings. We will focus on Viking Gods and Myths. 

Our unit on Habitats is coming to an end. Next week, we will have a review on Tuesday and a final test on Thursday.

 Hi 3rd Grade,

The 3rd-grade team just has a couple of reminders:

Scholars are off 1/18/21 - 1/21/21 for Independent Study. Presentations are due on 1/22/21. The 3rd-grade team can't wait to see your presentations and poster boards!

 Also, don't forget to sign up for parent/teacher conferences, which are being held on 1/19/21 and 1/20/21.

3rd Grade 1/8/21

We will continue reading the adventures of Pinnochio. Please continue practicing Casey at the Bat. Recitation will take place the week of 1/25. Great job mastering contractions this week! 

Next week is all about data representation! Pie charts, bar graphs, dot plots, and more! 

We will discuss Viking exploration,  Eric the Red, and Leif Eriksson. 

We will discuss habitat changes and extinction.
