3rd Grade 10/30

Hi scholars, 

We are so happy to have you back! We will continue reading the many adventures of the Ingalls family in Little House on the Prairie. Our study of adverbs will begin next week. Thank you for your hard work. 


Next week scholars will multiply 2, 3, and 4-digit numbers! Mastering basic multiplication facts will be very beneficial as scholars work through more complex problems. 


This week scholars will explore the Punic Wars, Hannibal and his elephants, Julius Caesar, and Cleopatra.


This week scholars will begin preparing for a short project on adaptations and survival.

3rd Grade 10/16

After Fall Break, we will start our next novel The Little House on the Prairie. Please have your copy ready for this story of American adventure! 

This week we’ll continue solving multiplication and division word problems using the 4-square organizer. Scholars will draw arrays and bar models to help solve the problems. They are also practicing their multiplication facts at school. Try quizzing them at home in 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 times tables! 


After Fall Break, we will continue our journey in ancient Rome. We will explore the legend of Horatius and the bridge from a historical perspective. We will discuss Lucius Junius Brutus.


After Fall Break, we will explore different habitats, specific traits, and how organisms respond in the environment. 


As a reminder, there will be no school from 10/19 - 10/23 because of Fall Break. The next 3rd-grade blog will be on 10/30.

We will continue our study of Greek and Roman Myths this week. Poetry Recitations will be due both online and in the classroom on 10/16. In grammar, we will practice adding auxiliary (helping) verbs to our predicates. We will also work to strengthen our writing and dictation skills this upcoming week. We are so close to Fall Break! Great job, Spartans! 


Scholars are diving into multiplication and division review. Help your scholars memorize multiplication facts for the 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 times tables. This will go a long way when they start solving more complex problems. 


This week scholars will explore Roman society and discuss the positive contributions of Numa Pompilius to the Roman Republic. 


This week we will begin a new unit on Habitats. Scholars will explore various habitats in the environment.

3rd Grade 10/2

Hi scholars, get ready to read some great Greek and Roman Myths this week! We will begin our study of verbs as we’ve now mastered subjects and predicates. Please continue practicing The Children’s Hour by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and be on the lookout for more dictations and narrations in writing. Keep up the good work! 

Next week, scholars will analyze two-step word problems to find the sum or difference. They will also show what they have learned in a cumulative assessment which covers everything we have learned in 3rd grade!  


We will continue our journey into ancient Rome. We will discuss the legend of Remus and Romulus, the founding of Rome, and the kidnapping of the Sabines. 


This week in science we will end our unit on life cycles, traits, and variations.  There will be a review and there will be an end of unit assessment.



As a reminder that scholars are off on Monday, October 5. Enjoy your long weekend.
