3rd Grade 11/20/20

Please continue practicing Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening. The recitation will be on 12/4/20. We will continue to follow the Ingalls family and practice writing and dictation after the break. Happy Thanksgiving! We are so very thankful for you and your families. 

We will multiply and divide 3-digit numbers by 6. Scholars should memorize multiplication facts up to the 6 x table. 


When we return from Thanksgiving Break, we will continue to explore ancient Rome. We will focus on the Colosseum, in particular the hypogeum, and Circus Maximus.


When we return from Thanksgiving Break we will continue to discuss ecosystems. We will discuss natural and man-made changes to ecosystems.

3rd Grade 11/13

We will complete our study of adjectives and have a unit review this week. There are more twists and turns in store for the Ingalls family and we will continue our practice of narration and dictation. 

This week, scholars will continue honing their division skills. Please practice multiplication facts at home! Memorizing multiplication facts is vital as we move forward in the curriculum. The week will end with a review of concepts learned since the beginning of the year. 

What did the turkey say to the computer? Google, google, google! Happy Thanksgiving! 


This week in history your scholars will explore Roman engineering. We will discuss how Roman roads, bridges, and aqueducts were made. We will explore some of  Rome’s famous buildings. 


In science this week your scholar will explore beaver dams because performing an experiment. For this experiment, you need a few items: a small amount of gravel, sand, a container, and popsicle sticks. At the end of the week, scholars will write a summary of the effects of beaver dams.

We will continue exploring with the Ingalls family! You may have noticed our practice of grammar and writing has doubled. We will wrap up our study of adverbs and start adjectives next week. Thank you for your hard work. 


Scholars will test their skills with a quiz on multiplying and begin their work on division. We will be practicing the standard algorithm for “long” division! 


This coming week in history scholars will learn the rest of the story about Julius Caesar. Scholars will learn what “veni,vidi, vici” means. We will discuss the aftermath of Caesar's death. We will end the week discussing Caesar Augustus. 


This week in science, scholars will start their projects. Scholars will have two assignments to complete for their project. There is no need to buy anything special. For both brick and mortar and DL scholars, everything they need to complete their in-class project is contained in a packet passed out in class or posted in google classroom.
